Course content is for the private educational and informational use of enrolled students and, if applicable, their parent or tutor. Course content may not be reproduced, transmitted, or republished in any form without the express written consent of the author.
Intended use
This course is intended for private educational and informational use.
It is intended for use only by individual, registered subscribers and, if needed, the parent or legal guardian of an individual, registered subscriber.
Minors may only sign up for and participate in the course with the permission and active involvement of a parent or legal guardian; specific guidelines and ages are outlined in the Terms of Service for the course hosting platform Thinkific, available on Thinkific’s legal center.
Group or classroom use
This course may be used in a group or classroom setting only if each member of that group or classroom is an individual, registered subscriber.
Exception: In a private homeschool setting, students in the same family who are taking the course together may share one subscription. Any other group or classroom use is prohibited without express written consent. (Contact: [email protected])
Non-affiliation
This course is not affiliated with any public or private educational institution.
In order to avoid any conflicts of interest, students should NOT enroll in this course if they are currently enrolled at a university where Dr. Tan serves as instructor. (Currently, this applies to students at the University of North Alabama.) If you aren't certain of your status, please inquire by email before enrolling.
No guaranteed outcome / Limit of liability
While the course content covers general writing principles, the format (pre-recorded video and pre-written text) cannot tailor ideas or advice specifically to the needs of each student or each paper. Course participants must use their own discretion and (if applicable) follow the guidance of a parent/guardian, class instructor, or other appropriate professional, in deciding whether or how it is appropriate to use or apply course content in their personal situation. Course participants are responsible to evaluate whether information presented in the course will be effective for them in their own situations.
The course and its creator offer no guarantee that participation in, nor completion of, this course will result in any specific educational outcome (such as academic growth or improvement as a writer) nor any particular outcome related to a current or future academic assignment (such as a certain grade on an essay for a class in which the student is enrolled).
Availability of content after purchase / Technical support
Course content is hosted on the Thinkific platform.
Students who enroll in the course should be aware that technological outages may occur with any web site, and that such outages may affect the ability access to course content. Ideally, any such outages will be quickly resolved by the Thinkific team without any involvement from the course instructor or from enrolled students.
In the event there is an unexpected and ongoing disruption to availability of course content (such as a multi-day technological outage, or an unanticipated change to the Thinkific platform), enrolled students who have not yet had a chance to complete the course may reach out to the course instructor for more information or to discuss options.
If a planned change (such as a business decision) will affect availability of course content, such information will be posted on the course site ahead of time so that students will have opportunity to complete remaining lessons, or take other appropriate steps, before any such change occurs.
